DUALibrary

The primary goal of this project was to explore the relationship between SKIN and BONES. First, I worked with brass and soldering to create an interconnected and triangulated framework [BONES]. Next, I used thin sheet steel in a series of interlocking curves to provide stability. The sheets were then riveted together to create a single, smooth shell [SKIN]. The relationship between the smooth, curving skin and the dynamic, angular bones is one of the key elements I continued to move forward with the design of a new public library for Silverlake, CA.
